I do love this time of the year and taking a visit to Myers and the Myer Center. It is especially good for womens/girls clothing! Clothes everywhere and end of financial sales! Not a good mix for the bank account in a way! I went into Myers after work tonight and they had so much sales on.. just as well I didn't have that much time on my hands otherwise a lot of damage could have been done tonight.
I still remember when this place opened to a huge amount of fanfare when I was much younger. I even came with my friend's the day it opened and it was like something that I have never seen before. However it simply became nothing all that spectacular as time began to move on. It used to have an amusement park on the top two levels (though I never got around to going on the rollar coaster before it was removed, along with the rest of the amusement complex, to be replaced with a gym). These days, when I'm in Adelaide that is, I really only come here for the food hall, with is okay, but then again it isn't all that fantastic since there have been times when I haven't been really all that impressed with their offerings. Still if there is one thing that does bring me back then that would have to bit the only thing.
The Myer Centre really needs a revamp - it's looked and felt the same for a long time. I've never liked the layout, when stepping off the escalators it's a mighty long walk all the way round to go up again, though the lifts are quick (VERY quick!), but it's always hard then to work out which way to go.
Now that I've gotten that off my chest, there are an OK number of shops there, some quite big, although there's also 2 empty floors. The Food Court is probably the best part of it, quite a range of eating places at a variety of price points.
Boxing Day Sales at lil' ol' Adelaide's Myer Center is crazy! It was so busy, even by 10am when I got there, there was a lot of people already waiting for the doors to open! The Myer Center sales were very good and although crazy busy and squashy within the aisle's, all the staff I noticed and spoke with were very friendly and helpful. Great job to their team in keeping order! :)
