Relax and unwind with delicious food, friendly service and a glass of vino in a cosy part of Albert Park.Another great local cafe/restaurant tucked away in leafy Albert Park. The menu offers a selection of seasonally-inspired, modern Australian dishes which scored them a lisiting in the 2011 and 2012 Age Good Food Guide and a very positive review by Matt Preston which you can find on their website.
The wine list displays a passion for Australian wines and well chosen international samples with prices aimed at encouraging you to try a few. There are over a dozen wines by the glass and to encourage you to drop in for some vino.
The locals know when they're onto a good thing and The Age "The Good Life Food and Wine" confirmed it when they voted Nacional's porridge one of the best in Melbourne. Breakfast has now been extended to 3pm every day. Join their Facebook page "vino nacional" to catch all their promotions as they roll off hot from the press.
With a seating capacity of 60 inside and a further 20 outside, it's the perfect venue for a private or corporate function. ...read more

I've always found the place to be really friendly. Music needs changing, though.
Thank you very much for your kind comments because our staff do work hard and they will really appreciate the acknowledgment.
It's wonderful to learn from these posts that we have so many loyal customers. You come in so often that you notice that the music never changes! Do you have any suggestions for the style of music or artists you'd prefer?
I drop in everyday for coffee and it was definitely better before this guy.....
Thank you for your feedback and thank you for being such a loyal customer.
If you are not receiving the best customer experience (from one of our staff or the manager), please speak directly with the staff concerned. If your problem is not rectified immediately, please ask to escalate it to the owners where necessary.
I trust that you will continue to enjoy your coffee everyday with us.
We are locals and to frequent this great establishment every other day for breakfast and lunch, NEVER MORE used to we spend around $200 a week here. The outside chairs are cheap scratched steel chairs, I have a sore foot and rested it on one of the chairs under our table. When I went to pay, the manager held onto the door, and wouldn't let me leave! I thought he was opening it for me but he was holding it closed and said 'Do not ever place your feet on the chair again!" before releasing the door and muttering under his breath "Don't ever let me have to ask you again" He really should look up the definition of hospitality, he ruined our lunch ( we have small children, so you know how rare that is to get out! ) and we won't be coming back because he was so shockingly rude. Wow. Beware the Chair police. The other staff are lovely and the food is consistently fine. I feel sorry for the owner, Get a NEW Manager.......

Dear local. Firstly, thank you for your loyal patronage and for your kind comments regarding our "great establishment" and "consistently fine food and lovely staff". We continually strive to deliver the best customer service in an increasingly competitive market place. We take great pride in recently being recognised by The Age as Melbourne's Top 100 "who makes the best coffee" and we were also acknowledged in last Sunday's Herald Sun for our delicious porridge. ...read more
Thanks for your response, it was actually one previous occasion he asked me not to put my foot on the chair, (and if the chairs were anything but outdoor garden chairs I certainly would not) I was fairly even in the review however, your manager was not only rude but holding the door closed and not letting me past, this was appalling but then to mutter under his breath as he walked away, sorry mate that's passive aggressive behavior. How is that hospitable? His service is also poor, he never offers milk with the porridge or asks if we require another coffee, he never has a smile on his face. The previous manager was the polar opposite, he knew the locals by name, and he was warm and took genuine pride in his work. But yes itâ??s undeniably the best porridge in Melbourne.
We value your feedback and take on board your experience so that we can continue to improve our service to all our customers.
Nacional is a great restaurant suitable for all ages. With it's delicious selection of food it was a real hit with our group of fussy eaters. We particularly enjoyed the crispy soft shell crab served with a spicy guacamole, ribeye steak served with perfectly cooked potato wedges and the to die for churros. It was a great night and We'll definitely be going back again soon.
CUSTOMER TESTIMONIAL POSTED BY BUSINESS
Staff were very helpful and readily accommodated a request for a high chair and a pram. The wine list is excellent with a great variety in both style and price - something to suit everyone. Menu is designed for sharing with all plates priced under $20 and generously proportioned - main meals are available on the specials board. Highly recommended is the ham hock, pear and parmesan salad. A little tucked away in the quieter area of albert Park but worth finding!
