Excellent Staff, facilities and VMOs, discharge is a nightmare. Dr operating and patient living 2 hours away made to wait until 11.30. We discharged my husband because it was a long weekend and the Clyde Mountain is a nightmare. I have no patience for incompetence, if the doctor is in surgery then instructions should have been left. My time is just as important as the doctors and nurses.
I was impressed with all the staff I encountered over a week's stay although I would have preferred not to see so many different staff. I especially noted the compassionate care I saw being taken of a very sick patient, in the middle of the night, without any of her family present. Apart from the sandwiches, the food can't be recommended.
The nurses were ok, sometimes busy and took a long time to get back to you.
No tea or coffee for visitors...why? It's only coffee..geeze.
Food was awful, was there for 5 days and if you like roast and packet mash? You'll be just fine. Toast for breakfast...don't bother, it's as hard as a "cement brick". A toaster to make your own would also be a great idea.
Was in this hospital for three days and nights following surgery. The nurses were really kind and pleasant, although they were clearly run off their feet. Response times to calls and requests were reasonable given how much they had to do - I thought they did a good job of giving priority to people who had just come out of surgery or who could not get themselves out of bed, then tapering it off a bit as they became more mobile. Food was quite nice, although there is only one option for vegetarians each time. Staying in hospital is never nice - too noisy, too busy, full of people who are sick and in pain, but I thought this one was pretty reasonable given all that. Recommend taking plenty of coins so you can access drinks and snacks and magazines once more mobile.
I has surgery and was in NCPH for 5 days. Apart from a couple of really good nurses I wasn't very impressed.
It was constantly too hot, not sure why they couldn't turn the air conditioning up. Nurses routinely took 15-30 minutes to respond to calls or requests which could be put down to understaffing if this was not a PRIVATE HOSPITAL.
I had to ask 3 different nurses for water when I was back in my room after surgery before someone finally got me some and hour later.
On the upside the food was not terrible and there was a couple of nurses who were excellent.
