Chiropractic is a health profession concerned with the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disorders of the human frame and the nervous system, and the effects of these disorders on our health and wellbeing. Chiropractic is based on the scientific premise that the body is a self-regulating, self-healing organism. The nervous system consists of the brain, spinal cord, 24 pairs of spinal nerves and 12 pairs of cranial nerves. The skull (or cranium) protects the delicate tissues of the brain and the 12 pairs of cranial nerves, whilst the moving bones of the spine (i.e. vertebral column) protects the spinal nerves and the intricate communication pathways of the spinal cord.

Chiropractic therapy aims to not only correct musculoskeletal dysfunction, improve range of movement and reduce pain, but also to restore normal function in the nervous system.
