New Italy Museum
The New Italy Museum was developed as a tribute to the courage and strength of those pioneering families with the purpose to pass on to future generations their spiritual legacy. The New Italy settlement was built upon dreams - dreams broken and dreams made. The New Italy Museum Complex is recognized as representing not only Italians in Australia, but their achievements and accomplishments, as well as the joining together of the Italian and non-Italian community to recognize and commemorate the contributions of those past and present.
The permanent exhibition - 'Recognising our Contribution' – is a collection of the stories of 30 Australian families of Italian origin who settled in the district during the period from 1920 until 1960. Family names involved in the settling of the district include Zulpo, Bolzicco, Donadel, Morelli and Pagotto. The display consists of 68 laminated panels with history records and photographs, plus eight blown up photos of groups of pioneers and some items of art work.
The New Italy Museum Complex also incorporates the New Italy Cafe for delicious coffee and scrumptious cuisine.
