My friends and I did not have a very positive experience here. I had a scoopon deal and the 6 of us had 3 vouchers and the restaurant made us sit separate from one another so each couple sat at a different corner of the restaurant which really ruined the dining experience notwithstanding the fact that the place wasn't even busy at all. They have a large selection of food and the quality was just ok but it doesn't justify the very disappointing different treatment we received. I don't think it was fair and probably won't come back.
Not bad of a buffet. Nicely presented and laid out. New Quay Buffet located in docklands seems to have a good location for tourist. However parking is a pain. Unless you park really far away then you can get longer hours but anything close and eating a buffet means you would need to run out and move your car or top up the metre. The food is decent and of course as always the popular seafood dishes run out too fast. They had crab, raw salmon, pipis, prawn steam dumpling and peking duck being the most wanted dishes. Other dishes that weren't so popular are the standard ones like fried rice, stir fry noodle, soup just to name a few. The dessert selection was great, had plenty of variety and was nicely presented. Very busy for a Sunday lunch. We were there for a birthday during the session time 12-3pm and people were non stop eating and continually getting up and topping up their plates. I guess thats the whole idea of a buffet.
I booked for a table of five, including three children of 10, 8 and 4 year old kids. The Rep from this restaurant did asked for the age of the kids and explained to me that there would only be 20% discount on the two young kids and that it would be full price for the 10 year old kid. When I came, they said that they had no record on their booking sheet that I have kids and would not let me in. They said that they put us next to a table of business men and they would not want "a lot of kids" around. When I asked if I could make a formal written complain to the manager, they gave me only a first name on the card. I told them that it would be rude if I address the manager with their first name only and that I should be given their full name, and they told me that they do not know their manager's last name. I've been to this restaurant quite a lot with my co-workers. We were there once as the whole organisation with around 40 staff! I would not come there again, ever, after ...read more
