Well where do I start. My first beer was flat, the entrée was very bland, the oysters had shell fragments in the meat. for my main I had the surf and turf, it consisted of 3 prawns, a bug which consisted of one mouthful of meat, a steak the size of a risole and a 3rd of my plate was lettuce stacked higher than the rest of my meal with a sprinkle of croutons on top, my wifes meal was the salmon which to be fair the salmon was ok, but was ruined by finding a prawn shell in her potatoes, when we asked the manager about the prawn shell she said it's just a shell "it's fine". But to top it all off when we went to pay and leave we complained and were told we would receive a 10% discount, which would have been fine if we actually got the discount. Instead we got $3 off our $120 dissapoitment. Will not be going back

I have been here a few times for drinks but the latest time we had dinner and trivia. I was very impressed by the quality of the food, we also had a difficult table with a number of dietary needs which the kitchen were very helpful and happy to accommodate. I had the Asian beef noodle salad which was huge and fantastic. It actually motivated me to make it at home soon after because it was so good. We did quite poorly with trivia but it was heaps of fun. Give it a try!

Depending on where you choose to eat your meal will ultimately decide A) the time in which your food arrives and B) the value for money. The restaurant obviously serves up more options than the bar BUT the food is fairly average and much more expensive. Wait times quickly blow out when it gets busy. The bar however serves up great, reasonably priced pub grub but has far more limited seating, as is expected. The steaks are huge and always cooked perfectly to your preference, it can just be a bit of a downer being relegated to sitting in the TAB area with some of the drongos that hang around if the rest of the bar seating areas are taken. The Newy can be good spot to kick off your evening but once the band starts, any hope of hearing the person you're face to face with quickly vanishes. Just way too loud for an enclosed area.

We waited an hour after ordering before asking the wait staff what was going on. The wait staff then realised that our order hadn't been put through. In fact it was still on the order pad in the wait staff's pocket. They apologised, then said that our entree would be free and that they would give us a round of dessert. Recommend eating indoors as the outdoor area neighbours the smokers area and if you're unfortunate you may be down wind of this. Service is slow and you will wait for your food but it is worth it. Food is very satisfying. Beef and bug is amazing, steaks are always
a great cut and if you go on a quieter night you will probably have a first class experience! This is an ALH franchise that will not disappoint, my bf and I take ppl here quite a lot!
