Daughter went here for a formal event and I picked her up and thought what a good place, so I tried it myself recently. I love this area, even better if the sun is out or if it's a warm night, however the cooler nights are also taken care of by heating. Excellent seafood choices, my scallops were terrific . Nice wait staff, it's not dirt cheap but seafood never is so it's a lovely way to treat yourself. Extensive drinks menu too, I had a nice local white wine. Mm mm.
Not to be confused with Nicks Safood Restaurant at the neighbouring Cockle Bay Wharf, Nicks Bar and Grill has a more open atmosphere overlooking the wharf. It occupies a relatively spacious area with covered al fresco and open indoor area. We went there for an office Christmas party on a weekday lunch and it was pretty quiet.
The food was a little bit hits and misses. The bruschetta had a very strong salt and pepper and not enough balsamic taste on it. The scallops entre, though, was very nice and of very decent size. The steak was slightly overdone (medium rare became medium, and medium become medium well, and so on) and the taste was quite OK and not too fancy.
For the beverage, the long island ice tea was very much watered down so we did not venture out to other drinks. The service was acceptable although not exactly of fine-dining quality as they would get confused as to who ordered what.
Definitely had to review this seafood gem on the wharf, we really had the nicest lunch here recently. It was really busy for a week day (always a good sign!), with a great vibe and mix of tourists and business professionals. We scored a table on the edge of the wharf, so were blessed with amazing views, and definitely helped that the weather was perfect and sunny. ...read more
Very much enjoyed lunch here last week on a beautiful, sunny winter's day. We sat outside with a great view of the water whilst sipping on a crisp dry white wine. We ate fresh fish on a bed of asparagus, simply but beautifully presented with a large wedge of lemon on the side, which had been grilled ever so slightly. I had John Dory which was delicious and perfectly cooked. On the side we shared some steamed greens, chips and mash. It was a fantastic fresh lunch matched perfectly with the wine and the stunning day. To top things off we had a delectable sticky date pudding for dessert. The only downfall was that seagulls kept flying near us in hope for some chips. Other than that it was a great lunch with top service and a buzzy atmosphere.
