Nielsen Park Cafe & Restaurant
Take away, restaurant, weddings and eventsNielsen Park Cafe and Restaurant is located within the historic Nielsen Park. This gorgeous, leafy setting with over ten hectares of gardens and gorgeous water views of Sydney Harbour, offers the epitome of fine dining. Whilst the cuisine is drawn from international influences such as Italian and Modern Australian, the one overriding factor is the fresh ingredients and great taste.
Meanwhile, the ambience is luxurious with soft furnishings throughout and sophisticated table settings, undoubtedly an ode to Vaucluse House, which is located on the same sight. Both the location and the cuisine render Nielsen the ideal spot for weddings and corporate events.
A restaurant, an afternoon-tea spot and a hideaway by the sea. Tuck into some calamari fritte with roquette and home-made mayo or some salty beer-battered flathead and chips with a perfect beach view at Nielsen Park restaurant, a ramshackly old but beautiful building. And it’s open 365 days a ...read more

It’s raining when I arrive at Nielsen Park, but it doesn’t seem to be deterring the diners. With Clayton Utz, Lexus & Lilianfels-branded umbrellas at the ready, they traipse across the picturesque grounds of the national park to arrive at The Nielsen restaurant and kiosk. New owners Sydney Restaurant Group, have left the historically significant Federation building’s vaulted ceiling and multi-coloured glazed panes as the room’s key features, adding only simple bistro-style chairs and dark wood tables. Even on a drizzly grey day, the 1920s windows frame a wonderful view.
With a stable of ten venues, including the highly awarded Ormeggio at The Spit, LuMi Bar & Dining and Aqua Dining, Sydney Restaurant Group bring ...read more
I'd also like to add a poor review when it comes to weddings at nielsen park. My partner and I swooned over the beautiful location and upon our first visit to have lunch there decided it was the venue for us... but when it came to trying to get some reasonable service, we were very poorly let down. I'm by no means a wedding bridezilla- the venue itself calls for relaxed events, but I do expect to not have to chase emails for weeks and weeks when I'm asking for your service. I want to give you money. I asked for quotes and was sent back no quotes but just decoration pdfs because the female wedding organisers (not the owners-who are really nice) have their own decorating company and for some reason they felt I'd care about ottomons more than I'd care about the cost of food etc. I can't go in to it without sounding crazy but just abysmal service and you're forced to deal with the wedding girls. Tried to palm it off to my fiance but he got the same non-service and after ...read more
we had our wedding at nielsen park in march 2011, quite frankly AVOID THIS VENUE AT ALL COSTS !!!
the venue let us down so badly on the day and made so many errors and seriously upset myself and my wife both on the day and when we met to complain afterwards
they food had multiple issues - uncooked overcooked wrong orders you name it
drinks were totally messed up - specific wedding table drinks were missing ??? even though we purchased them ourselves and delivered them ?
the toilets are a nightmare and we had gatecrashers from another venue using our toilets. when told of this the staff did nothing and i as the groom had to physically eject the two in question
seriously if you are considering this venue then dont ! go elsewhere my wife and i both wish we did !
