Do not go here or park in the carpark. I went the other night to get milk from the Nightowl in New Farm, I parked my car and ducked across the road because I saw a friend. Spoke to them for 5 minutes, and returned to buy my milk from Night Owl to find my car being pulled onto the tow truck. Apparently because I had stepped foot out of the carpark I was no longer a customer. They asked for $440 cash up front to get my car back. They obviously don't want any business.
Yes a very similar thing happened to us. Apparantly they have employed people who watch the carpark and have tow trucks on stand by to hook up your vehicle . There is one warning sign that says Customers Only Tow area which was pointed out to us by the tow truck driver as it was not anywhere near where we parked. Although we had gone into the store to get supplies we has also walked down to the Pizza place to pick up a phone ordered Pizza. We had only left the car park for 5 minutes and these people had hooked up our car and demanded $440 cash. The tow truck company will only take cash, no EFTPOS. We contacted the police who are powerless to do anything. My advice to everyone is to stay well clear of this little shopping and go to one of the malls close by that offer 3 hrs free parking.
