Those who know me will tell you I am fairly passionate about the Northern Territory for many reasons. First of all, it is a place of remarkable natural beauty. Secondly, it is a storehouse of indigenous spirituality, art and culture. Finally, it is an adventure to get there and experience it! Nitmiluk National Park encompasses both Katherine Gorge and Edith Falls and a series of gorges. You need to be prepared that it is a long trip from Darwin and if you choose to swim you must know that freshwater crocodiles inhabit the area. It is said they are mostly harmless but in the wet season, saltwater crocodiles can also be found. I was amazed by the majesty and vastness of the gorges. I thought it actually looked a bit like the Amazon from a distance.
