Cheap and nice Chinese food!

Came here for lunch and though it had been a few months since my last visit, I remembered why I still love this place for good, quick and delicious Chinese.
The service is prompt, and despite the basic ambience, the quality of food is good. We order our favourite 4 dishes for $54- and as usual the favourite was the spare ribs in Peking sauce, the salt and pepper tofu is delicious when coupled with the fried shallots and the crispy skin chicken is great value.
Overall, still a great place to eat and very affordable!

Still loving this place for a good fix of Chinese. Casual no fuss Asian food, plus I've discovered they have a secret 'back' area for large groups! The room can fit 50 people and the waiters are attentive. On a cold winters night it is great I start a meal with some Chinese pork soup... We then proceeded to order our usual '8 dishes' set dinner... Great times and a fun vibe.

I have a bit of a rollercoaster relationship with this place. We used to come every now and then, and I found the food really good and well-priced, especially if you order off their specials menu. Several times this year, we came and the same dishes were pretty terrible in comparison to what it used to be, but I came again last Sunday in a big group of 16, and the same dishes were great all over again.



If it sounds like I'm confused, well... I am.

Four dishes for $52? Yes please! Like Short ribs in Peking sauce? Fancy some pipis with black bean? How about some steamed fish fillets and vegetables? Carlingford Village is a pretty scruffy place but if you want a quick casual dinner where you are guaranteed to leave full -this place is pretty great. The staff are friendly and your teapot get filled when you ask for it (yes, they are my service level expectation at a Chinese restaurant). I'm glad I revisited this place... good times and memories!
