The actual vet’s are very good but
Having spent over $7,000 on our dog she was put on medication and we were given instructions to stop medication after a period, but if the condition reoccurred to go back on the medication. The problem is we ran out of the medication and the vet is refusing to give us a script to get more medication unless they see her again. She will die a painful death without this medication but they will not give us the script.
Extremly disappointed with this vet.First occasion, our cat was on a drip for 5 days, 24 hour care. The condition worsened overnight and the vet forgot to call us in the morning when the specialist was available to do ultrasound tests. I called them later that day to check up and they told me this about the specialist and that I'd have to wait for the next day. After insisting that they get the specialist back in, they decided that some other vet can do the tests and a serious condition was revealed which need to be treated immediately. On another occasion I took her there because I thought she might have eaten something the night before and was a bit quiet. After waiting 2 hours in the waiting area with other dogs (yes, it was a busy day), I asked a nurse to take her temperature because she was getting stressed. It was a bit high, but not concerning. The vet then came to see me, and without even seeing my cat (who was out the back at this point) diagnosed her with being ...read more
This is the vet for bunnies, David Vella. David is highly knowledgeable and can wrangle and whisper even the fiestiest little fur-fiend, and offers a hefty discount on calici-vac for the second bunny, if you have two - making it affordable. David has worked with two of my bunnies to my satisfaction but when I took my girl in to be spayed, I had specified that he was to do it, and it was done by a much less experienced vet and my girl did not heal as quickly as others in the past. At the high cost of spaying, and having to keep her overnight because they operated much later than booked, the expense was a blow-out condidering I drove for miles to get to him specifically, and he gave the work to someone else. Bunny's tummy has never recovered from being overly tender, over a year since.
I have been going to North Shore Vet for years. In all of this time I have found them extremely professional and genuinely compassionate about our animals. Due to our menagerie of pets, we have met most of the vets there and find them all lovely. In particular Dr Prue and Dr Mikala have been great recently dealing with our poor Bubbles who was hit by a car and needed emergency care and surgery. Although being extremely busy, they updated us constantly and were very up front about the costs involved and what needed to be done. Sure it's expensive, but most veterinary care these days is. We have gotten insurance for our animals now so we don't have to worry. I definitely recommend this vet clinic.
We see the exotic vet here and he is great - takes the time to know your pet and is an expert on everything exotic! Sadly I have to agree with the below comments about the reception staff. I've dealt with about 4 (not sure if there are more), one is a true gem, always friendly but the rest can be rude at the best of times. They ignore you and make you feel like you're bothering them by coming to the front desk. Having said that I still recommend the hospital, vets are great.
