I just read some of the comments - and I wonder how there could be such polarised views.

Regarding the use of technology - it is introduced in such a supportive way.

My older son who did great - now at uni, also liked having a conventional 'book ' as well as on-line ...read more

I have had very different kids attend NBCS and one still in High School.

One of it's biggest strengths is accountability - if something isn't working - a phone call or a visit - the matter is dealt with.

My High schooler is motivated, has great friends, loves going to school and is doing very well academically. That in my mind is success.

It is a communication thing - a school needs to know if you are unhappy with a change or a teacher. Not whinge about every little thing, but address problems with the school

.If the person you saw didn't respond to your requests then go higher.

It has worked for us over the years we have been there, and continues to do so.

My son came to the school 3 years ago. He had been bullied and had bad experiences at previous school. Within weeks he was a confident, secure child again. The school is wonderful. He is now in secondary and going really well. Loves his subjects and his teachers. Never asks to stay home. We came to the school on recommendation from friends - exactly the right advice. Their children both at uni now and doing well. Love the place!

Hi Jan69! We have just (literally) come home from one of their information nights, and were very impressed with the facilities there as well as the teacher's approach to learning. However, we were concerned that with the amount of technology used to aid learning (laptops, online etc) that our child's overall social skills will suffer - being able to engage with real people 1:1 or in a group setting. Are our fears justified or not?

Rachael. You shouldn't worry. My son is at the school. He has his own laptop. He communicates well. He isn't online all the time - and I am pleased he is learning to look after his laptop and take responsibility. And it isn't all about the technology. Compared to his primary school, this school does a fantastic job encouraging kids to be confident communicators.

I read the review and felt I needed to make some comments from our experience. It couldn't be more different from the other comments. Our son went through to Year 12 and his results exceeded all our expectations - and he along with every one of his friends that we are aware of have gone to university and are doing very well at that level. The education focus of the school blends so much that we wanted - strong classroom teaching, plenty of independent work, some online options - all worked extremely well. The school community that we met were delightful. It was easy to communicate with teachers. I'd give it 5 stars unreservedly.

This school is not what seems -- I suggest anyone at or thinking of this school - do your research!!.

Since we pulled our children out, the horror stories having been coming from everywhere. People are too polite to criticize schools, teacher and principals especially when your kids go to a school so you have to work it out for yourself. ...read more

We couldn't agree more and were sucked in too - interested to know where you moved your children to as we are struggling to find a good co-ed alternative. Any suggestions gratefully received.

Hi there! Is this because of their 'self directed' approach to learning that they encourage students to have? I too had concerns - particularly if the child wasn't very smart, and may not have been confident enough to seek help, but i was assured that there were several different methods deployed by staff to ensure that students didn't fall through the cracks. Further thoughts please?

Our children did not enjoy this school at all and we found the approach to teaching not appropriate to their learning style. Would not recommend this school if you have children that enjoy traditional, individual learning and are self motivated.
