We stayed in a 5 bedroom / 4 bathroom single storey holiday let in Palm Cove managed by Northern Exposure Realty. The property was advertised as accommodating 12 persons - we were a party of 7 adults. The property is a beautifully spacious property – suitable for sleeping large groups or 1+ family. The location of the property in Palm Cove was just perfect with walking distance to the beach, restaurants and coffee shops. Larger supermarkets and the highway to / from the airport (Cairns) and Port Douglas were all easily accessible from the location.
The property boasts beautiful bedrooms and palatial modern bathrooms and kitchen. However, the contents (or lack thereof) let this property down dreadfully.

We were in Cairns for the 2012 eclipse. Northern Exposure Realty was the agent for the accommodation, a two-bedroom apartment. Both bedrooms had a stenchy smell, and the agent didn't want to help us. We ended up sleeping in the living room four people, waking up with head aches. All they did was spray the bedrooms with perfume. I contacted the carpet cleaner who confirmed the bad smell and the likeliness of it coming from bacteria or mould. I will strongly warn against Northern Exposure Realty - it's OK for a property to be damaged or unsuited for some reason, but the treatment I got from this agent is simply bad. The management of the place is clearly not responsible and far from a hospitable nature you would expect from a rental agent. Sadly, as an European this means it will be part of the story I tell my friends in Europe about Northern Queensland. Such a disappointment.
