Norths Rugby Club illustrates everything that has changed about The Other Footy Code in the last decade. It's about as far from its roots as a crusty, old-fashioned English pub-style venue as Rugby is from its origins. The huge timber-decked outdoor seating area encloses a funky bar space with the pokie room so marginalised as to be almost invisible. In winter, the press of northshore bright young things and lots of gas heaters keep it warm. In summer, all that brick in the sun all day keeps it warm with radiant heat until closing time. Best feature: Foxtel sports events projected 10m high on the wall of the office block next door, chilled beats on Sunday afternoons and live DJs Thurs, Fri and Sat nights.
