This is probably the first time that I have stayed in one of these apartment hotels (not counting the one on the Gold Coast) and I must say that there are some good and bad points. The good point is that they are quite well decked out, that is as an apartment as opposed to a simple hotel room. The one I stayed in had cutlery, crockery, and a washing machine (as well as a television, but don't all hotel rooms have television, not that I actually watch it). They are also incredibly secure.
However there is a downside to it, and that is that they are quite expensive. There are also a number of rules as well, such as having to sign in all guests that you take to the apartment (and I suspect that goes for owner/occupiers as well). They are also all strictly non-smoking (not surprising) though it appeared that that included the balcony as well (why have a balcony if you can't smoke on it?).
