I rang O'Brien about a very old washing machine which had started to leak. The phone rep took details and then rang back after consulting a repairman. The estimate for the repairs was close to my price point for the repair/replace decision. The phone rep agreed that replacement was a better option and then recommended an online vendor who provides free installation and removal; she then followed up with a "thank you" SMS.
I subsequently placed an online order for a new machine per her advice.
Very helpful and efficient; a relief not to be pushed into a costly repair decision.
This is an addition to my last review. Luckily O'Brian gave me my $143 fee back (less a $4.50 visa charge), becuase I went to Bosch who provided a courtesy service (because they felt even though the machine was technailly out of the warraty period, the machine was still new enough to get a free visit) and there was absolutely nothing wrong. It was just getting unbalanced due to me only putting in one towel into the wash when the wash actually needs at least 2-3 towels so it can properly balance. Since then, the machine's been fine. So it was lucky, I nearly paid the $143 plus parts plus extra for repair of the parts for no reason. All's well that ends well.
O'Brien, when I booked, said there’d be a fixed call out fee plus parts regardless of time taken. My wife rang independently too and understood the same. However, the actual cost, as it was later revealed when I asked for a broken part to be replaced that would require an hour’s work at O’Brien’s service centre, is a fixed call out fee, plus parts, plus labour for the installation of those parts.
Perhaps we had a simple misunderstanding. O’Brian refunded me the fixed call out fee of $143 I had paid, less a $4.50 visa charge, and I consider the matter now resolved.
