Stopped by here for a late night dessert. The name of the restaurant is Jimmy Fitz Kitchen. The actual dining area at the rear of the hotel after you pass the bar. Order and make payment at the tiny opening that is the kitchen. The Bilpin Apple & Pear Crumble had been chosen. It took them quite a while to bring this out and unfortunately was not worth the wait. The apples were left in large chunks and whilst had a decent flavour, it wasn't as pleasant as it could've been. Ice cream was just a store bought variety by the taste of it. It isn't a place you would actively seek out considering what they were charging.
Great Pub close to the Cross. I was here with some friends on sat night. the staff are super friendly and were more than accommodating. One of the bare men went out of his way to bring up the drink I was drinking from downstairs up to the bar upstairs. Great drink deals with $9.50 Jugs of beer and Cider!
I didn't have food this time but have had it before and its yummy. They also have a small theater out the back and pool table upstairs. It is a rough and ready bar with loads of character. its a must little hidden-ish bar in Woolloomooloo!
I sort of wonder why there is a pub in Woolloomooloo called the Old Fitzroy when Fitzroy is in Melbourne, but that is beside the point because this was a lovely little pub with some cool alcohol related anecdotes on the wall, such as 'Giving up drinking and smoking is said to give you a longer life when in reality it just makes life seem longer'. The bar staff were really friendly, especially the woman because she even gave me a candle for some light when she saw me scribbling some notes on my map. Oh, they also have jugs, not the standard Aussie, share your beer with a mate type jug, but a German style one litre stein type jug.
