O'Malley's Hotel

As the name suggests this is supposed to be an Irish pub, though sometimes I wonder whether some of these pubs are Irish in name only (not that I have ever been to Ireland). When I came here recently it was actually quite empty, though I did have a beer and watched the end of a rather close football match. When I had been here previously the place was actually quite crowded, though that may have had something to do with the special event that happened to be on at the time. The place also have live bands, but I've never been here to hear one of them play. It's okay, but not really all that fantastic. Then again maybe it has something to do with it's proximity to the Cross, and also that it tends to be frequented by backpackers. Personally, it's not a bad pub, but then again there are much better places in Sydney to spend my time.

This place is awesome - cheap beer, friendly staff, and cool patrons .... What more could you ask for?

We found this little gem after getting lost trudging around the city. Cheap beer, not too crowded, and a good pub meal. A highlight was the $10 irish stew which is almost enough to feed 2, and with the most tender meat! The music choice was odd though- Taylor Swift? We were expecting some pub rock!

Rough as guts pub that gets rowdy later on.
