Opium Den
The Opium Den is an ambience-filled restaurant in Potts Point. Offering Thai-style cuisine, this restaurant serves only the freshest ingredients, you will love the curries and beef dishes in particular – both highly recommended by diners. All food is so well-presented, you will be hesitant to touch it.
Whilst this establishment serves both lunch and dinner, you must visit at night time. The warm, dark red glow that is excluded from the lighting and candles is beautiful. The solid timber furnishings also add to the homely feel. Despite the cosiness, this restaurant is buzzy and full of life. Alternatively, dine in one of the quiet dens out the back.

Opium Den is a favourite spot among my friends when we're after a nice, cheapish spot for dinner before heading out for drinks nearby. It's not groundbreaking food or anything, and all the Thai dishes on the menu are pretty familiar. But at least that means it's usually easy to order a few things to please everyone, and it's all good, tasty food I don't think I've had a bad dish yet. It's BYO and there's a bottle shop a couple of doors down, so a night here can be pretty cheap. The vibe is cool and relaxed, and the fit-out is all dim lighting and red decor, so it's intimate and buzzy. It can get pretty busy but they're good at staggering bookings so youll usually get in even if you have to go for a quick drink first. Service is a little brisk but fine, and it's not five star dining so you can forgive it.
