I used to go to OPSM for my eye tests and contact lenses when I lived in Sydney, and I was happy with their service, so I decided to stick with them when I moved to Melbourne. All I wanted out of my first visit to the Camberwell store was the standard eye test (fully covered by Medicare). It was easy to book online, and the optometrist seemed competent during the test. At the end though, I was told that one of my optic nerves was a bit large and I was railroaded into paying $130 for a Digital Retinal Scan (I should have gone to Specsavers, across the road, because they do it for free). Upon looking at the receipt, I've seen that this includes a $100 follow-up in six months. It was then suggested that I might have glaucoma and I was referred to an eye specialist without any warning of the cost.
