Oriental Teahouse
Traditionally, ?Yum Cha? means ?to drink tea?, referring to the ancient Chinese custom of sipping tea whilst eating small portions of foods - not the all-you-can-eat lunchtime images that spring to mind with Yum Cha nowadays! But the Oriental Tea House is one restaurant that stands apart from these modernised definitions, serving Yum Cha Monday to Friday for lunch and a la carte for dinner, and offering it with over 80 variations of tea to choose from!
The award winning Oriental Tea House really is a complete dining experience. The lavishly decorated Little Collins Street store has a balcony overlooking the restaurant, many interesting seating options, and a retail shop attached to the store. So whether it is for a meal, a cup of tea or to buy something nice to take home, don?t be afraid to treat yourself at the Oriental Tea House. ...read more

I LOVE this place. Great tea and fantastic dumplings, including dessert dumpling options. This is such a nice place to take a break from exploring or shopping. The sesame ice cream is worth a try, as are the white chocolate dumplings. I have tried dessert dumplings anywhere I can but these ones are by far the best. Every time I'm in Melbourne I make time for Oriental Teahouse..we even bought their teacups and loose leave vanilla sencha to enjoy at home
Oriental Tea House exudes a casual, funky charm. It's far from authentic. It has the odd traditional yum cha items & then the just "odd", but regardless, it's all good. It's kind of like the casual friend's next door where you can hang out, munch on good food, drink some interesting items (it is a tea house after all) & just chill. A good, easy, breezy, casual diner with a touch of class without being pretentious.
Went here for dinner on Saturday night, I wasn't sure at first, but five minutes in I was in heaven. The staff were so friendly and attentive, with each meal brought to the table quickly. The dishes were very tasty and reasonably priced - with the Ginger and Lemongrass dumplings being a standout dish. The Ginger and Lemongrass tea was fantastic, I could not resist buying some to take home.
Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a fun and affordable night out.
