In the indusrial part of Brooky, Manly, is this Gem, Orininals Burger Co. A laid back establishment serving American food inspired by the owner, Josh, who spent time in the US. The restaurant is a large space kitted out with wood paneling with plenty of indoor seating and a few tables outside. With an array of burgers to choose from, we decided to get a few to share. We were enticed by the burger of the week; the Christmas burger, which channels your christmas lunch; maple glazed ham, coleslaw, gravy, meat patty and also a couple of chips! Big and messy, just like a family Christmas lunch. The burger was tasty, dirty and lick your fingers good.

It's totally worth the drive into the industrial hub of Brookvale where this haven of burger epicness lies. Great friendly service, high ceilings, relaxed vibe and a meaty menu of burgers and loaded fries.

Tucked in amidst the hardware stores, smash repairers and storage unit companies of Brookvale, Originals Burger Co. gave me the first compelling reason to put this suburb my foodie map. Chef Josh Franco – who you might know from his time in the Aqua Dining kitchen – draws upon his experience to put out surprisingly well-balanced burgers at a very reasonable price. The Originals Burger ($10.99) starts with grass fed beef with the right amount of fat (for flavour) and fashions it into patties. They're presented in singular form on a burger accentuated by good mustard, tomato sauce, pickles, lettuce, tomato and white onion (I appreciated this detail) and the requisite gooey, golden American cheese. Do I need to say anything more? Seriously just go there. if you like greasy heart stopping burgers it's a must try.
