Fantastic service from Gil and the boys. I first took my car to OSG after being ripped off by another mechanic who tried to tell me I needed $3000 worth of work on my $2500 car! Gil looked at it for no charge and disproved 90% of what I had been told.
More recently I brought my car in for a routine service and rego check. They broke everything down that needed fixing and let me know exactly what was optional - but would ensure the car ran better - and what was essential and needed to be done there and then. I have recommended them to friends and will continue to do so.
Ormond Street checked out my car, and told me the timing belt probably needed changing, and that the brakes were leaking and in danger of catastrophic failure. The mechanic said I should stop driving the car at all.
I wanted a second opinion, so I went to another garage, who said there was no leak and that the brakes were fine. They then changed the timing belt for half the price Ormond had quoted.
I have since driven the car 3000 kms with no brake trouble at all - let alone a catastrophic failure. I can only conclude that Ormond St were either incompetent in their assessment of the brakes, or that they lied to me to drum up business. Either way, I'll never go there again.
I get my Skoda serviced here, really honest advice and great service- Nathan runs me through all the work he's done on my car and explains the cost break down, 100% transparent and trustworthy. I can't recommend these guys enough, nothing better than finding a mechanic you can trust!
