Overseas Packers & Shippers

Wish I'd seen the other reviews! I hired Overseas Packers and Shippers to move my belongings from Australia to New York. They weren't the cheapest I received a quote from, I selected them based on timing for shipment. I was told my goods would be on the next ship, arriving in January or February which coincided with my moving into a new apartment. I coordinated with the company for pick up of my goods in time to make this next shipment. I only found out after I contacted the company in January to get a better sense of arrival time that my goods were in-fact bumped to the following ship, departure time unknown. My goods did not arrive until May in the end. The company repeatedly denied that they had made any commitment to delivery date, which is correct, however, they made a commitment to my goods being in the next shipment, which they weren't. Came on-site and surveyed for our move. Gave us a quote, to which we accepted. Picked up and then tried charging us another $800 because there was more than they thought and for 'storage' for the first half of our load (that we were told was free) while awaiting the final uplift. They surveyed it, not us... They offered the storage, not us... Why would we be responsible for their staff / company errors or inability to work out the volume for a quote? Wish we had gone with Wridgeways now - at least they got the survey volume near spot-on! Anyway, OP&S have kept almost everything we own, and have tried to charge storage until we pay their demands. They seem to ignore any contract obligations and do all possible to delay and force you into giving in. Three months so far, and our shipment hasn't left Brisbane yet. Only go with a mover that you have been personally recommended...
