We have been going to Globe Derby for 30 years, to enjoy the racing, the horses and the restaurant. Over the years the restaurant has always been a mixed bag, from good food, to absolute rubbish. Staff have ranged from very helpful, to down right rude.
We visited the Paceway restaurant last night, we have come to the conclusion after all these years, that we will not be returning for dinner again. With I would say two out of three visits being disappointing, we just aren't prepared to risk it anymore. Even trying to order a drink was a drama in the restaurant, I can't get a Pepsi Max anymore, now that Coca Cola are the only drinks carried. I ordered an orange juice for my wife, no orange juice ?? I then changed my order to two ...read more
Our first time to this restaurant and found that it was excellent value for the range of freshly cooked hot items, a good range of salads and plenty of desserts. The service was good and the staff were very pleasant.
The 12 of us who went for lunch left commenting on the quality of the food for the money spent was great value.
We will go back again when the racing is on as that's apparently a fun night out.
We have been several times in the last 12 months and the restaurant certainly went downhill for a period, but we went on Anzac Day and had the buffet and it was so good, I wanted to let people know. There were Lamb Racks that were sensational and not what you would normally expect on a buffet, chicken curry, Thai baked Barramundi, which was all I had, but there was much more on the buffet that all looked great. I have read these reviews and felt that maybe the place went through a bad period, but judging on what I had last Saturday night, I think that things have definitely changed. I hope that people get back there and notice the changes.
We had been here previously and enjoyed the buffet so we returned on 17/1/2015 hoping for a similar experience. However this was not the case this restaurant has gone down hill in a short period of time. The food was absolutely disgusting with a very small selection. The roast was cold and tough the vegetable were cold and not well presented. The calamri was raw, the desserts were frozen. The other dishes we tried were also cold & not well presented. We will not be back here again.
My husband and I rarely get a night away without our son (maybe twice a year) so generally like to go on a dinner date. I really wish i had read the reviews prior to going. We paid $40 EACH for the all you can eat which was absolutely disgusting. I'm still not sure how that is justified. We are not fazed by the cost of a meal as long as it is nice. In particular in regards to these dishes, the sweet and sour pork looked like cat vomit, the (small) prawns were chewy and the calamari was rubbery.
The choice in beverages is also limited and lacked anything of interest.
The desserts were nice but not nice enough to compensate the rest of the awful food.
Needless to say we will never be back.
