I always like these old style cinemas, even if they have been given a bit of a make over and have a number of more screens (albeit somewhat smaller) installed. In a way these places take you back to the good old days of cinemas before the invasion of the megaplexes. Okay, it can be tricky to get to, but then again it is a suburban cinema. Still, it has its charms, and their selection of films do cover a pretty decent range, including the Stage to Screen productions that you get from the British Theatre (as well as the ballet).
This is my regular cinema. Although it has several screens, it's got so much more character than the multiplexes. The building is art deco and it's located right at a tram stop. The offerings are both blockbusters and arthouse, with special periods when they show many of the International Film Festivals (French, Italian, British etc), so you are sure to find something that appeals to you. There's a caf on site and also several within a few metres of the cinema. When new movies start you may need to come early to get a ticket, but I don't get turned away very often. It's good.
