Phillip's Foote
Named after the captain of the first fleet Phillip's Foote steeps itself in colonial history. From the name to the historic location, Phillip's Foote prides itself on being an Australian restaurant. You can't complain about the steak not being cooked to your liking as the whole premise of this restaurant is that you cook your steak yourself. A salad buffet is also available and for those who really enjoyed their visit, merchandise is also available for purchase.

This has got to be one of my all time favourite go to places for cook your own.
It's a set price, you choose your cut of meat and you have open access to the buffet table which includes salads, pastas, bread and enough condiments to make everyone happy.
It's well worth it because you do get to cook your meat exactly how you like it and usually mine means that the chef won't cry when I ask it for black and crunchy.
It has a quaint little outside area that's out the back and the front doesn't give anything away.
Go have a bevvy or two with some friends after work some time. I promise you won't be disappointed.
It's been years since I've been here and it never disappoints!!! I sat in the public bar at the front and two young Australian girls who were working on the bar were positively delightful. They engaged in a chatty manner and I even watched them escort one lady to the back bar and restaurant area as it appeared she needed the assistance with confidence to walk in their by themselves. A lovely few hours spent there.
Ahh Phillip's Foote...one of my favourite pubs in Sydney and definitely a go-to place if I am in the Rocks area. Phillip's Foote just has an undeniable charm about it, right from the almost Scottish-inspired interior which makes the whole place feel really cosy to the awesome bartenders and that is just inside. Outside there is a large outdoor area with plenty of tables, shaded or not to cater for all weather, and a really upbeat atmosphere. Their food is also great, but I guess that is up to interpretation because it is cook your own Australian BBQ. You literally select your meats and cook it on the BBQ then help yourself to their fresh and tasty sides. It is a fun experience to go for a couple of drinks and a 'no hassle' BBQ with friends.
