I’ve been to this place a couple of times, namely because I used to go to a gaming club that met across the road before the bar that they met in closed down. Anyway, it isn’t anything hugely fancy, not what you would expect from a modern, hip, innercity cafe. That doesn’t mean that this place is necessarily bad – they have a good selection of cakes and savory snacks, and the coffee is okay, it is just that being a bakery the focus isn’t really on the coffee. Mind you, the only reason that I came here was to have some coffee (and also to kill some time). Okay, it isn’t really a place that would summon the coffee connoisours, but it certainly does have its merits. In anything, for the sweet delights.
A bakery with plenty of choices from pies and pasties to home made soup and rolls. Phil's bakehouse has a plentiful menu of quick meals and snacks. Seating is bench style and you will have to share a bench with others. Service is no frills, collect your own meal and coffee from the bench. A good place for a quick meal.
