This small eastern suburbs pub has nothing pretentious about it; the Phoenix Hotel located in Woollahra is mainly a sports bar with a traditional, relaxed ambiance about it. The beer is local and the patrons are regulars. The drinks specials on weekends, especially the $2 champagne on Fridays keep the customers coming back for more.

The Phoenix hotel is an old school front bar and pokies room that has not been updated since about 1973. And thats about it. It was however good enough for Richard Branson to have a drink at before the V Festival at nearby Centennial Park a couple of years back and it is more than enough for the local touch football teams to enjoy a beer after a win on any given weeknight. The Phoenix is the perfect place if you want to turn up in your singlet, your stubbies shorts and a set of thongs, hang out with your mates in the front Bar with a few Reschs schooners and talk about the old times. They have a TAB also where due to the small crowds, you are easily able to get a bet on without waiting for the busy bar staff. Round up a group of lads and get in there. If you discount the bar staff, the only thing lacking at the Phoenix is eye candy which opens the door for good old fashioned conversation and meat pies.
