The food was average, a bit on the expensive side for the quality. Mains are over $30 each. Skip the bread roll, for $2.50 you get a heavy, small, horrid little nugget. Desserts are average. There is no smell at all, no garlic wafting through the place, I missed that. The decor is what really lets the place down, it's downright daggy. And the music fits the decor perfectly. I wouldn't go back. Modernised in decor and menu, and it could be great. The staff spent the time chatting in the kitchen, service was consequently non-existent.
I used to love this restaurant 10 years ago. Last time I went there (was the last time for a reason..) I ordered a roasted pork shoulder and as far as I could tell, it was about 70% fat. I couldn't eat any of it. When I suggested the kitchen take it back, they refused. So, no more Piccolos for me.
I agree Gordon. It's gotten twice as expensive and half as good as it used to be.
