The staff are very friendly. The food looks inviting, albeit costly. But if you are seeking the worst of coffee EVER then this is the p;lace. ANd I know others with the same experience. My coffee was so bad that I would have loved some to go killing spiders and snakes with
great iced coffees and got coffees quite good. still doing the "vegie stack" (mushrooms - done beautifully, tomato, avocado, 1 poached egg, fetta, dukkah and toast for $17 ($1-2 over priced for serving size but I can appreciate how hard it is to make a living in a place like rye with limited population and seasonal traffic) . also tried the vegie ciabatta for $9.50, seating inside and outside on street front, still one of the best healthy, tasty and reasonably priced daytime eateries on this strip
we finally decided to go to picknics as the final meal of our Rye long weekend holiday & we weren't disappointed by our decision. Picknics is open for breakfast & lunch & offers simple but tasty fare, consisting mainly of sandwiches, wraps, burgers, panini & their "lunch boxes" which include a main (eg fish n chips), a side & a drink. It's tasty, it's convenient & Picknic's has that simple chic. The hot & spicy burger we had was touted as the best burger ever by my wife - that's a big call but it's gotta be accuate, this burger was tasty, tender, packed with ingredients & flavours. This won't be my last drop in to Picknics!
this place is the best place at rye shop strip for lunch, we generally choose here when we are down at rye lunching/ we usually have the "vegie stack" which consists of one poached egg, half an avacado, whole roasted tomato, small handful of roasted mushrooms, small sprinkling of fetta and dukkah on toast for $14.50 which is very tasty but a little small for price. their coffeees are good. they are only open for breaky and lunch 7 days a week including most public holidays. a few tables indoors and outdoors on street for eating so busy times need to wait for a table. dog water available. also available museli, fruit salad, pancake, salads, focaccias/wraps, burgers, smoothies/milkshakes and other egg dishes (menu is adequate in options to choose from). staff friendly and baby high chair available.
