Westinghouse Pigeon Pair fridge freezer, fridge door bottom hinge and pivot collapsed, unfortunately it was out of the two year warrenty. Four and a half years old, still in pristine order apart from the door. Tried to aquire a new door, was not available and discontinued. Cost of the new model is $1,600 Troy rang the manager of Westinghouse and explained the situation, retired couple that looked after the unit, only four and a half years old and negotiated a change over price well under new price, delivered new fridge and picked up old fridge for minimun call out. Great outcome, couldn't be happier from a rock solid local, reliable bussiness.
We had a Fisher Paykel front loader washing machine for not quite 2 years. It broke down within waranty. Fisher Paykal contacted Pirie Appliance repairs for us. Took washing machine to the
Davis Street address. The repair man and Fisher Paykel were realy great to deal with. Would reccoment them to anyone. Thanks, R. Stott. P.S The washing machine had been dropped or damaged before we bought it.
The management of this business quoted me $30 to fix my vacuum cleaner. Later in the same conversation it was $44. I was informed by them that if the cost was likely to rise above this for parts or extra time they would call me for approval before they proceeded. When it was fixed a few days later and I came to pick it up the price had become $60. For obvious reasons I didn't have that much cash on me so I came back a few days later to pay. For some reason the price was now $66.
Having said this, I can't fault the repair job. So if you choose to use this business I recommend getting your first quote on paper so you can circumvent his business practices.
Hi James thanks for the feedback. You originally asked how much to fix a vacuum cleaner which did not run. Ok without pulling it apart and locating a problem which takes time, I advised to look at and if not repairable, a quote fee of $30 for my labour. If repairable it would be between $44 and $66 plus parts, I ended up reducing that to $60 for you as no parts needed, that was after I offered to drop it back to your house free of charge as I was heading out on service calls the day you came to pick it up. Sometimes it is very hard to quote a repair for free with out going out of business. Its like a car does not start how much to fix? A mechanic needs to diagnose the problem to organise a quote for repair. I am sorry if this was not clear on the day you dropped this off. Regards Troy
