Poacher's Pantry

Close friends of ours had a wedding here and were really disappointed. Yes, the venue may appeal as rustic and the food was gourmet. But the function staff were unprofessional and inefficient. Last minute let downs and excuses are not what you need on your wedding day. What was promised in the beginning was a long shot to what was actually delivered in the few days prior to and on the wedding day. By the time all the extra charges were added on, my friend could of had her wedding at a more established winery on the same budget. It just got really difficult. Not somewhere I'd ever recommend.

Being brought here by our friends from the ACT, I was immediately impressed with the 'rustic' and the homely feel of this winery/cafe. For lunch I feasted on their smoked chicken breast, prosciutto and salted saltimbocca, which went really well with the Poacher's Pantry 2009 pinot noir. After lunch we were busy at the wine bar for wine tastings, and we were particularly impressed with their champagne. The place has definitely left me with fond memories!

I love this place. I have been here 3 separate times, and each time have not been disappointed. I had the smoked meat and antipasto platter the first time I went to share with my sister, and have not tried anything else on the menu since as its so good. Its great to have if it is your first visit to Poacher's Pantry, and just simply can't decide which delicious smoked meat to try. The kangaroo prosciutto is especially nice.

The service is always fantastic and friendly. Very attentive, but not in your face all the time.

I will be back, multiple times!

Perfect spot for a wedding. I had my wedding there in Feburary 2010 and it was practically perfect. The staff were fantastic and the menu was wonderful. My guests said it was the best wedding they had ever been to. My new husband and I go there for lunch on special occasions and recommend others to go there as well. Wonderful food, wonderful location.

It's a bit out of the way, but if you want to make an outing of it, having kunch here is great. The local produce and friendly service have impressed me many times. I also stock up on smoked meats for when I get ready for Christmas and diner parties.
