Polepole
Inspired by travels through East Africa, our bar is named after the Swahili word polepole (pronounced pol-eh-pol-eh), meaning 'go slowly'. Commonly used by locals to remind people to take it easy and live in the moment, the term perfectly captures the essence of our bar.
With a menu including imported African beers, signature cocktails and delicious food designed for sharing, polepole is here to help you enjoy the journey - wherever it may take you.
Open Monday - Saturday from 4pm, Sunday from 1pm

As far as I am aware this is the only place in Melbourne, or even Australia, where you can get some African beer. There was another bar nearby but unfortunately that one has long gone, which is a shame because that bar was pretty awesome as well. Anyway, this one is tucked away a little down Little Collins Street and can be a little hard to spot since it is on the upper level and is accessed by a small door that is easily missed (I knew about it because there was another bar here previously). Anyway, I have to say that this place is pretty cool, even if it is simply because of the unique style of beer that you get here, but it is certainly worth checking out if you are looking for something a little different.
If you're after something different, this is the place to go. A South African theme with glamping tents and food. They have happy hour until 8 and also a restaurant downstairs. Perfect for a small group with bookings available. Would definitely be back to try the food.
Interesting and definitely different to what i would normally eat out. But at least i can say i have tried eating African food. Couldnt say its a favourite but that is just me. Experience was great, good to see different nationality in the restuarant trying out and enjoying the cuisine. It was a great dining experience and good to try and know but couldnt say i would be back. There is nothing wrong with the food or service, its just not my type of food. My friends definitely enjoyed it as it was their choice to come here. Serving size and quality on the plate looks great and fresh and staff are really nice and pleasant to deal with. Definitely reccomend
