If you are looking for authentic Indonesian cuisines in Sydney CBD area, particularly Haymarket district, chances are you are in better luck if you go to the food courts.
Pondok Selera is one of them. Located in a busy Eating World food court, Pondok Selera offers the famous 'rice with choices of meat and vegetables' options (which I believe is not as extensive as I have had hoped) as well as cook-to-order dishes.
The thing that makes this place attractive is its affordable price and its reasonable serving size. Although I certainly have had better Indonesian meals of comparable type, the food quality was actually quite reasonable and was not too oily or too overboard with the spices and the chilli (although you can always ask for more chilli to suit your liking).
Despite being a takeaway shop, the servers were very friendly and there seems to be a lot of regulars who grown to know the staff.
