Poplar Cottage
Poplar Cottage is a self-contained, colonial cottage in Richmond, southeast Tasmania. Richmond is a 30-minute drive from Hobart (26 kilometres) and is twenty minutes from the Hobart airport.Built in 1840 as two conjoined cottages, Poplar Cottage has been fully restored and decorated in period style. The property accommodates up to four guests in two bedrooms. The main bedroom has an antique iron and brass double bed, and there is a second twin bedroom. The Cottage has an open log fire in the exposed-brick living room, a fully-equipped kitchen and the bathroom has a deep claw foot bath and laundry facilities. Poplar Cottage is located in the main street of the village and overlooks historic Richmond Bridge. Established in 1824, Richmond was originally a military post and convict station.
