Prince Alfred Hotel

3) Prince Alfred Hotel (Carlton): Well, since this pub is directly across the road from Melbourne University you can expect this to basically be a student pub. I've been here a couple of times, one of them during the holidays and surprisingly it was closed (well, considering it was Christmas it probably isn't all that surprising). Look, it's not my favourite pub, but then it is one of those places where groups of students regularly meet for after university drinks (usually on a Friday). It also has everything you expect from a university pub, such as cheap drinks, a pool table, a a fussball machine. They even have a section of a rowing boat protruding from the wall, no doubt a homage to one of the rowing clubs that would have met here.
