I am a former prisoner who now runs regular information sessions for people facing prison for the 1st time in Queensland.
Having been through the process my self and realising how little real information was available and how much anxiety facing the unknown can cause not just for those being sentenced but for friends and family aswell I have started www.prisonreality.com information sessions in South East Queensland , Brisbane ,Ipswich and the Gold Coast the information sessions run for around 2 hours and covers everything from preparing for prison before court so your incarceration has the least detrimental effect on your family and loved ones.
I take you step by step through the process of appearing in court , sentencing, arriving at prison and navigating the correctional centre systems, rules, forms,visits,phone calls,what you can take,what you can buy,what to say and not to say,interacting with other inmates and officers and transfers all the way through to preparing for release and the conditions you can expect to encounter on the way.
I also offer ongoing support services to friends and family of prisoners to assist with visits , questions and organising the affairs of prisoners from Centrelink payments to deferring SPER debts and much more.
