I would doubt that any other kayak ski business could match Prokayaks for the selection of skis available to genuinely test right from the front door of the business. I spent an entire Sat morning just working thru the options from Epic V10 (new model) to V12, Carbonology, Fenn, Vjada several from each brand ..you name it. Over three hours or more and 15-17kms on the lake each time I headed back into the shop (between the sat am punters with paddle boards, sit on tops and paddle pops) they were happy to adjust the ski and send me on the way. In the end "the fastest ski you will paddle is the one you balance best" to quote Jimmy and the noisy Sth African OC. You are only going to find that out with time in the craft. These guys are ready to let you do that without the sales hype for a brand. They compete with and know the products. The customer service at this place leaves a little to be desired. My wife and I were on the lake for a picnic with a large group and were instructed to let Pro Kayaks know the name of the group when hiring a kayak for a group discount. When we mentioned the name we were met with a blank look and long silence that we found to be most uncomfortable. Oh well, perhaps our group hadn't let them know what was going on. Later I saw that our group had indeed rented the tables for the bbq from Pro Kayaks - they should have known who we were and not just stared blankly at us when enquiring. We decided to rent a kayak anyway because it was a beautiful day. I'm not an expert kayaker but have dabbled in the past when on holiday. Luckily my wife and I knew how to use a feathered paddle because they didn't think that it was nessisary to show us before we started off.
