Proud Mary
Proud Mary is well known for its high quality coffee and you won't be disappointed.
This cool cafe located in Collingwood also serves all day breakfast in a relaxed and friendly environment.
If the size of the coffee machine is anything to go by, this place has to be serving up some seriously good caffeine. Owner, Nolan Hirte, is a champion barista and, with his syphons, clovers and grinders, will serve you up one of the best brews you are every likely to indulge in. With cool background tunes, laid-back vibe and an all day breakfast menu including ricotta hotcakes with caramelised peach, orange blossom and white chocolate semifreddo, you’ll be ‘rollin, rollin’ out of ...read more
This was a rather nice cafe, located in one of the old warehouses that tend to dot Collingwood. I found that coming here on a weekday morning tends to be quiet cool because you can generally get a table, though you do have the pre-work crowd coming through here for their morning cup of coffee. Still, it was nice, though not one of my favourites, and does serve a decent benedict.
Proud Mary's is a Collingwood instutution. Their ricotta hotcakes are the must try and so actually, the porridge was delicious also. After tasting both of these, I think I could come back breakfast each and every morning. The served fantastically made coffee! But then again, I didn't doubt it wouldn't be! I would reccomend coming earlier as it gets packed out very quickly.
This is where the coffee crazy come and rightly so. The coffee is delicious. The menu offers some unique and delicious choices. I didn't much care for the stark, industrial-style dcor but service is good and there are gluten free choices. Not much choice for vegetarians. Try the duck with figs and some of the breakfast choices are deliciously wicked!
Proud Mary is high-ceiling spacious, clean, minimalist stylish and has a warm brick wall feel to it. I can imagine it might get loud during high-traffic hours, but my impression was of positive high energy. I ordered my usual large soy latte and was pleased when it came within 5 minutes in a wide-mouthed glass, along with a remarkably large glass bottle of water. The coffee was deliciously smooth and perfectly strong, just to my liking. Based on previous reviews, its my understanding that Proud Mary was opened by coffee aficionados who like to geek out on coffee paraphernalia, which is displayed amongst its walls.
