Public Dining Room
2a The Esplanade
Mosman, NSW, 2088
Set amongst the pristine waters of Balmoral beach, this is a signature venue in Mosman. The menu is modern Australian with a range of seafood and meats. The dishes are impeccably presented and the service exceptional. We started dinner off with some fresh oysters which were deliciously creamy and sweet. I then had the scallops for my entree which were perfectly seared and coupled with some Pancetta, orange and purée.
My main was an eye fillet, served with slow cooked oxtail, a sour cabbage and some carrots. I couldn't fault it, it was perfection.
We also had some wine which was a Pino Noir from the Tamar Valley.
Will definitely be back!
We only recently realized that Public Dining Room also serves breakfast. The prices are reasonable and comparable to the overly popular Boathouse. The setting is very fancy and the place is bright and welcoming. The staff are professional and everything is extremely pristine. I ordered the salmon and potato rosti. The salmon was fresh and soft with a light saltiness. The creamy ricotta sauce was the perfect accompaniment.
Prices are around $25 and I ordered a fresh juice $8.
A really nice way to start the weekend!
This place could not be any closer to the water's edge. It is a unique feeling to be that close to the beach, such a pretty outlook. The food was lovely and not as expensive as you would think for such a superb location, the only negative can trying to find a parking spot on a busy day. Great place to take people visiting from out of town.
