Pyrmont Point Hotel
Down towards the Blackwattle Bay end of Harris Street lies Pyrmont Point Hotel. It is a heritage listed establishment in Pyrmont. It has benefited from renovations that have seen it successfully maintain its traditional public bar whilst modernising other areas of the venue.
Sitting in the heart of historic Pyrmont, this multi-level venue features four main areas, balconies, a bistro, and some cosy nooks. The public bar has all the hallmarks to be expected from a heritage-listed pub, complete with timber paneled bar and relaxed seating.
Head upstairs to the hushed surrounds of Margots Lounge, where there are plenty of ottomans and a large fireplace. Sip on cocktails at the Verandah Bar as you look out over John St Square. Pyrmont Point Hotel boasts a large range of local and international beers and fine spirits.

Last week I went here with extended family, and we are a very hearty meal. The outdoor area is very well designed and the table was big enough to accommodate our group of six, and all of our plates, bottles and wine glasses. I highly recommend the barramundi and my cousins are the schnitzel...very big serving, and tasty -so they were pleased. You pay at the counter and after it's ready, they bring it to your table. I must say, it's a very extensive menu, so everyone is catered for -meat lovers, vegetarians, seafood lovers.
I only had time for a quick meal, but it was still decent! And so was the bottle of Hunter Chardonnay we ordered. I love this part of town, nice corner pub and not as wild as some others so close to the city. The gentrification of Pyrmont has changed the face and fabric of the area, and I mean that in a good way. Can't find friendlier bar staff than they ones here. Really worth a visit.
Nice location to enjoy an early Sunday dinner. I had the pork roast which came with a decent serve of vegetables and Yorkshire pudding with crackling, gravy and apple sauce. The kid's burger was a bit of a letdown with a measly meat patty. Friendly service and welcoming atmosphere.
3) Pyrmont Point Hotel (Pyrmont): Okay, this place is a little bit out of the way, but it certainly is worth the trek to get here because this is actually one of those really nice, quiet little pubs. Okay, it is a little flashy in places, but the front bar still carries the old charm of those early pubs. There is a restaurant out the back, along with an outdoor eating area, which means that you don't have to put up with the smokers. There is also an upstairs level with a really nice lounge area, though I'm not sure if you can take beers up there (the stairs leading up there were pretty old). However I have to say that I did quite like this pub, and the staff were pretty friendly as well. No doubt I would make the effort to come back here if I happen to be back in Sydney in the future.
