My car has been with q Cars for 7 months waiting for it to be ready.
I have made over 80 phone calls, each time being told they will call me back.
They have only called me back once, and the news was the same. Some reason it was not ...read more
Mate how did you go about with it? I have also purchased a car from q cars and i now i am facing some legal actions almost after 7 months..and its not even our fault!!! its just that promises were not taken care of by the dealer.
Q Cars does make promises and not keep them. Perhaps what is worse, is that they will string you along making you believe they will follow through and to give him time.
What you will hear is, "I will call you back" or "call back in 2 weeks".
Well they do not call you back 99% of the time, and if you call back in 2 weeks there, is just another excuse as to why they have not got the work done, and they'll ask you to call back again!
I'm in the same situation, where they have my car and says they will fix it, but doesn't.
They have a contact at Consumer Affairs and told us to contact them.
I thought it was wrong and ask Consumer Affairs for someone else, but they gave me this person saying they deal with all Q Car's cases. How many do they have??
Well, the mechanics that have had my car said they have not been paid, they house the car for x months then move it to the next. Unfair on them and us!
To answer your question, the car is effectively frozen at a mechanics until Q-cars pays them for work they have done on other cars. I have been calling every week, sometimes every day asking when I will get my car back.
So while Q-cars has my car, and consumer affairs say if I want the car fixed then I have to wait for them to do it, then the original observation from one of their mechanics looks likely to be my fate. I might be waiting a year or more!!!
Hello, has anyone actually got their cars back from Q cars? They still have the car I purchased from them, it's only been a few weeks, but I'm starting to get very worried after reading these comments. thanks.
Hi seapony
I truly hope you do not have to wait longer than you already have.
My only advice, is that if you have been told two or more times that it will be ready by a certain date and it wasn't, then prepare for it to take a while.
If this is the case, set goals (i.e. when you expect you car back), then you can see if qCars is delivering on time.
Also, it wouldn't hurt to make notes about each time you talk to them and when they promise to resolve issues.
I looked back on mine (9 months of them) and feel like such an idiot for getting into this situation.
I know it's not my fault, but I could have acted earlier, instead I trusted them and waited one week here, and 2 weeks there, so on and so on.
Good luck!
Thanks c arleton., yep I've been talking to them very regularly - so will start logging calls, good idea. If I don't get in back next week, i'm going to consider it stolen and go to the police. All it needed was a current RWC (which they advertised it as already having). hope you get your car back!!
I seem to be in the same problem. Its coming up three weeks ago that i bought a car from q cars and they and still haven't delivered, claiming that it's getting the roadworthy done and they are waiting on "slow mechanics". I've called them at least 5 or 6 times and have had a number of suss responses including them asking for more cash to help them out with the job.
Really just wondering if you guys eventually even got your cars?
Hi mates, I am in the same situation. My car is still there after three months awaiting a RWC. I have not been able to get any reply from this people. As they can't supply a RWC, I want my money back together with my expenses.
Hi mates, after 5 months of waiting for my car to be delivered with no success, today I received my money back. You can contact the MOTOR CAR TRADERS CLAIM COMMITTEE. If Qcars does not give your money back the COMMITTEE will pay for your loss and will cancel the Qcars licence. If you need more information just write a comment in this page and, with permission from the moderator, I will provide you with exact details of what to do. Cheers, honesty always prevail.
My sister bought a 1989 BMW from Q Cars for $5,000 last May and then two months later had to leave Australia suddenly to return to England. Q Cars agreed to re-buy the car for $2,500, which she accepted. She then went home expecting the money to be sent shortly. This was nine months ago.
Six weeks ago, Q Cars telephone her to say they had a cash flow problem and couldn't refund the money and told her to get someone to pick up the car. So, I went today in her place to find Q Cars of 118-120 High Street no longer exists. Can someone tell me if it has closed down or if they've moved? I can't get hold of them on the phone. I spoke to Vic Roads and know the car is still registered in my sister's name but I don't know how to go about finding it. Can anyone offer any advice?!
