Qdos Arts

Gallery, sculpture garden, cafe and luxurious accommodation

Established in 1989, Qdos began as Lorne's first contemporary art gallery on Mountjoy Pde. Qdos was relocated to Allenvale road in 1998. The new Qdos was designed in collaboration with Peter Brook director of Peddle Thorpe Architects Melbourne and Graeme Wilkie, the director. This new venue offered the scope to bring a greater diversity of cultural events to Lorne. Qdos Arts offers the finest accommodation and dining on the coast, only minutes from the village. Imagine dining at dusk alfresco under the floodlight, towering eucalypts or in the gallery surrounded by great fine art. Our new, innovative chefs bring you a modern European cuisine that will challenge any other. We are specialists in event management: weddings, parties, corporate functions and catering.

Fabulous and serene with rich wood tones and minimalist design inspire peace and tranquility. Such an interesting and beautiful place to stay and lovely food. A great place to mix with interesting and creative souls.

After a long Sunday lunch at Ba Ba Lu Spanish restaurant in Lorne we ventured up the hill for a kilometre or so to the luxurious QDOS a sculpture garden, artists haven, gallery, caf, function centre, luxury Japanese inspired treehouse accommodation it covers all bases. Owner Graeme Wilkies vision was to bring the diversity of cultural events in the area to one central location where all of the aesthetics of the arts could be appreciated - he has certainly achieved this. The evening we arrive is particularly lively as the huge wood fired kiln has been lit and needs a team of dedicated people keeping the fire stoked around the clock for seven days so that it reaches its ideal temperature and bakes the creations inside to perfection. An annual event, it attracts artists and students from across the globe, along with a team of locals, to ensure its success. We enjoy a glass of red with the team and then wander up the path through to our treehouse to enjoy a very rare child ...read more
