Quarry Hotel
Formerly a traditional corner pub without any trimmings, the Quarry Hotel in East Brunswick has undergone extensive renovations in recent years that have changed its character for the better. With leather couches that you can lounge back into and rich hues throughout, you are not wrong if you think the Quarry Hotel has become a more stylish establishment; a very fitting transformation for this trendy suburb. Serving lunch and dinner, the bistro offers more than traditional pub fare – expect fresh, Modern Australian cuisine. Meanwhile, the extensive list of local and imported beers, wines and spirits means that you will be spoilt for choice when it comes to choosing an alcoholic beverage.
This place didn't appear on the list of pubs that I drew up when I first arrived in Melbourne (namely because I wasn't as familiar with the internet as I am now) however I discovered this place while sitting on the tram one afternoon as it trundled past. As such I marked it down as a place to visit, and did just that in the next couple of weeks. Okay, the outside looks pretty run down, but even then that can add a bit of character to the place. Basically it is a standard pub, though has the Brunswick feel about it (meaning that there aren't any pokie machines). They have a range of beers available, including craft beers, and the menu isn't all that expensive either (comparatively speaking). Okay, it isn't my favourite pub in the area, but I still quite like it.
