R F Scott & Co Australia's Oldest Gun ShopR F Scott & Co is Australia's oldest continuous gun shop, being established in 1886 by Richard Scott who was a well known big game hunter in Africa. He started off selling guns, ammunition and doing bicycle repairs for the miners who flocked to Ballarat during the gold rush era.
Today we cater for all your shooting and hunting needs. Centrally located in Ballarat we are here to give you helpful, friendly advice whether it be about shotguns, rifles, ammunition, reloading equipment, scopes, spotlights, clothing or any of our many products in stock.
R F Scott & Co was recently chosen to feature in the successful ABC series Dr. Blake's Mysteries starring Craig McLachlin and Nadine Garner as our shop is located in a heritage building and we have kept the traditional "old look" gun shop in tact.
We offer on-line permit applications as well as transfer of ownership services either locally, interstate or overseas.
Another service we offer is gunsmiths that do repairs to firearms as well as refurbishing any cherished firearms you may possess.

About six months ago I decided i'd like to try my hand at hunting with a rifle and my first and final stop in Ballarat was RF Scott. Friendly, knowledgeable and honest staff who not only talked me through my licence application but also explained the ins and outs of which rifle suited which purpose and the emphasis on maintenance and safety as well.
