R.J. Auto Electrics Huonville, Tasmania. My name is Glenda, My Husband and I had to get our Winnebago alternator checked, as it was making a whistling noise. It was still working fine though. This staff member said that it would take a few days to repair, we had to hire a car for that time. They told us that the alternator had to be fully rebuilt, with new parts, we asked them why ?, as it just sounded like a bearing or dust on the brushes. We felt helpless, as they were quite forceful and agressive towards us, and we arent the type to cause arguments. The total bill came to $1320.00, they said most of that was for the labor, We had a brand new alternator priced to suit our Winnebago at $570.00. As we travelled around Tasmania after having the so-called repairs done, we started to notice our batteries smelling as though the acid was boiling, but we did not want to return it as we thought they would charge us more to fix the new problem.
