Rainbow Bay Takeaway
Also known as: Rainbow Bay SLSCLocated between Rainbow Bay and Snapper rock in Coolangatta, Rainbow Bay SLSC has one of the best views on the coast.
Upstairs you'll find the Ocean deck and restaurant. The Ocean deck is open all year round and overlooks the beach and nearby park and offers good value club-style food and drinks at a good price.
This is the last surf club heading south on the Gold Coast, and one of the first you should visit. It’s nothing flashy, apart from a view that could sell a thousand postcards. Inside, friendly staff oversee a solid range of cold beers and wine, plus a light burger or bigger meal that won’t break the budget. But it’s the view over the crashing surf of Snapper Rocks and all the way north to Surfers Paradise, that will blow you ...read more

Went to Rainbow Bay Surf Club for lunch just this weekend.... great location, glorious views, however that\'s where the joy at the end of the rainbow STOPS! All the Staff we encountered were RUDE, staff clearly didn\'t want to be there. After ordering our meals, the adults received theirs first and the kids meals came out when we had nearly finished ours ... with no apology even.. just dumped on the table and no mention even that the pizza was extremely Hot. After our awful meals we headed out to the deck to appreciate the view of the beach which was lovely... Went to the bar to order drinks to only be ignored by the bar staff as they proceeded to serve all others who had walked up after I had! Last straw was the bar staff made eye contact with me then turned to ask yet another customer who had only just walked up and asked him what he would like! disrespectful and RUDE! Fair to say I will not be heading back to that surf club
The staff are not friendly- in my experience they were quite rude and unprofessional.
I agree ... not a pleasant experience at all!
We had a wait staff, who when asked if a couple of sundried tomatoes could be added to the Chicken Pesto Pasta... they rolled their eyes at us.
Customer Service is no longer in this country.
We've eaten a few times at the surf club over the years. You certainly can't beat the location and there's nothing like sitting on the balcony in the warmer months and watching the surfers and even dolphins playing in the waves. The food is basic surf club food, but always quite edible and at a good price. The locals are welcoming and it can be easy to sit here for hours.
When visiting the Gold Coast, the RSLs are probably the best place to go for a decent meal. This RSL is located in a fantastic spot on the beach down towards Coolangatta but the food was probably the worst food I have eaten in a RSL. The chicken salad was drowned in dressing and the fish and chips super oily. The staff were also quite unwelcoming which is rare for the Gold Coast as everyone is normally super friendly. I probably wont eat here again but it is a good spot to have a few drinks on the verandah overlooking the beach after you have had a swim.
